It had to be the guy on the bike behind me in spin class. I had a clear view of in the mirror, he was wearing a sweatband on his head. That rocked my face off.
Plus, I love that my spin class sweated my face off. My cardio is going to be back to stellar in no time. I'm loving me some running fast! I've been enjoying yoga and spinning all week. I went back to PT yesterday and got a strength training program that will guarantee my core and booty/hips/quads/hammys are superb by the time I'm ready to run again. Whenever that may be.
I've had a great week blahgesphere! I hope you have too.

best part of my day.
Going through my pictures from the U2 concert in Oklahoma City on Sunday night. I have always wanted to see them in concert, it is something that was on my "life list" and it was AMAZING to say the least. Just incredible. So many of their songs mean so much to me.
It's been an eventful week and a half. First Chicago, then home for a few days, then off to OKC with friends to see U2 Sunday night. We stayed the night in OKC and tooled around the city with our friends who hadn't really been there before. We had a blast.
I'm still trying to get caught up from being gone, on top of starting to train for those little November races I have coming up, and I started teaching for fall semester this week as well. I've been loving October!

best part of my day.
Reading THIS post, about me, by THIS GIRL! Who is a wonderful blogger/triathlete/runner/student/wonder woman.
Man, I have never read anything about myself like that before. It's a little surreal, and really cool actually. Mostly I am one of those girls who assumes she is having bad shiz talked about her behind her back. Yeah I'm a skeptic.... a long held skeptic... poor Ed. So thanks for proving me wrong OneLittleTriGirl, you made my gimpy day.
I also love OneLittleTri because she spelled my name right, SHE SPELLED IT RIGHT!! Something that rarely happens! I could squeeze your face.
Also, I cleaned out and organized all the non kitchen/bathroom drawers in my house, I was in organizing heaven. So gratifying! Yeah... bit of a organizational nerd. Right here. Rebekah with a k and a h... nerd extraordinaire.
Another thing that made my morning entertaining was reading one of my sister's responses to my honest scrap post. She had no idea I had been a vegetarian.... chirp..... chirp.... we went through a phase.... for about 25 years. We'll just leave it at that. I heart you Krish, there has GOT to be something I don't know about you...
And I'll leave you with this blahgesphere. Tomorrow is a very, very big day for your little FWR. So. TUNE. IT. IN.

best part of my day.
The fact that I'm not going back to work until Monday. Wonderful.
Also getting ready to make headway on my new book that Ed randomly got me just because a few weeks back, "Born to Run." This book puts those who are smug about their six-minute miles (oh, we all know the ones) and ultramarathoners to utter and complete shame. If you are cocky about your running, I dare you to read this book.
It's about a tribe living in the Copper Canyons of Mexico who can run 100s of miles in a pop. Two days straight, barefoot through rough terrain, after a night of full out partying. Like it ain't no thing! Inspiration indeed.
Speaking of books, if you want to win a book, a book that hasn't even been released yet, go HERE!

best part of my day...
The fact that tonight is the last night of teaching my pre-session. Oy. Relief! Now I'm not sure what I'll do with what feels like tons of free time.
Another great thing? The fact that I hit my speedwork of 3 x 1 Miles yesterday at 8:00 miles. Of course I did them inside over lunch because of the heat and awful humidity. But I did it, I think I just suck at running outside in the summer. I'm still determined to destroy the Wichita Half Marathon, as I've mentioned... we have a sordid past (this is a link to a post I wrote last October).

best part of my.... week?
Shoving my face full of 18 pounds of fried food and pints of delicious Shocktop after spending a beautiful evening outside pretending to watch softball.
Considering I actually made it my six miles this morning without
1) throwing up
B) having a diarrhea explosion emergency
I say: beer and food-a-palooza = 0, Running = 1
I'mmmmmmm baaaaaaaaack interwebs.... you may now commence with your sigh of relief. Or eye rolling, you pick.

best part of my day...
Grande Soy Caramel Machiatto on this stupid cold 30-degree SPRING morning. We are in a winter advisory now, looking at 6" of snow tomorrow and Saturday, possible blizzard conditions. Lovely.... pretty sure we were in a 70 degree Tornado warning last week. I heart Kansas.
Speaking of Kansas. Here's to Kansas going all the way in the big tourney for another year. GO HAWKS!
I may be a K-State graduate (the "other" big Kansas University, known for football not basketball), but I'm going to root for any Kansas team with all my heart no matter what--it's just how I roll.

best part of my day...
Running five good miles and going to yoga right after. I met Kristen for yoga, it had been too long since I have had the time to go to that class. I felt so fantastic and relaxed after the total workout. Bliss.

best part of my day...
The trees in my front yard have buds! There are happy yellow and purple flowers blooming in my garden. I'm a happy girl.
The other parts of my day have been partly good, partly blah. I'm home sick with a sinus infection, it's all stopped up in my head, ears and head throbbing. But as Ed pointed out unless I'm sick I'm not good at resting, my body is trying to tell me to slow down right now. I'm listening, I have no choice. I would have been useless at work today anyway. Plus no class to teach this week, I'm so thankful the University is on spring break this week as well. Total relief.
The other good, no, great part, of my day is that I went to my doctor this morning per said sinus/ear problem and to talk to him about my hip. Thankfully my doctor is a runner. Sweet. My doctor in fact laughed a little when I said... well I did run 20 miles on Sunday. He smiled and nodded, asked when the marathon was and said ice, ice, ice and stretch, stretch, stretch. Duly noted. The most awesome part of my day is the fact that my hip hasn't hurt ONE BIT!
This post wore me out. Time for another nap.

best part of my day...
The fact that my legs don't hurt anymore! It's a St. Patricks Day MIRACLE... My Irish luck is kickin' in.
However, I am going to PT this week for my hip, it is still hurting for the first 20 steps I take whenever I get up and start walking. I am nipping this in the bud, so we'll see. Hopefully a little PT will keep it going for the next six weeks.

best part(verbal vomit) of my day...
Sharing about 846 gallons of verbal diarrhea with the fabulous running lawyers Kristen and Emily. They aren't just running buddies, they are two friends I couldn't live without at this point in my life.
Not to mention the slow and easy three miles I did over lunch where I refused to force myself to run faster or harder, I just didn't care! In fact, take that running plan, take those easy measly three miles and shove it where you may, cause I'm totally over you right now. In fact I'm at that point where I think I might want to break up with you for awhile. You make me hurt and make me want to cry, you are making me tired and emotional. At this moment you have me feeling like a failure.
You take and take and aren't giving much back at the moment. I'm afraid you will fail me, you evil turd of a plan. I might just crumple you up and throw you in the trash, yeah... you don't even get the recycling bin because I don't want the paper you were printed on to resurface in some other substance.
Putting training plan in safe place. Walking away. Must eat Girl Scout cookies. Must find Sour Patch Kids. Must have Mocha.... Need bed, down comforter and all seasons of Sex and the City to make world right. I apologize cyberspace, the above verbal vomit left my fingers involuntarily.

best part of my day...
Driving home in a good old fashioned Kansas thunderstorm! I also probably had a chocolate milkshake after dinner which made my evening of teaching much more fabulous. I know we are supposed to eat perfectly healthy while training for a marathon, but some days it's okay to give in, and it was so worth it.

best part of my day...
Sleeping in, snuggling with the dog, having the house to myself and getting a gigantic, delicious mocha!
I plan to get in a four mile run at some point today, it will be nice and easy since I have my 18 tomorrow afternoon and am sore from hill work last night (more on that another day, because yes we actually do have one hill in this city, just the one though). Luckily I'm meeting the girls tomorrow and they will do the last nine miles with me, no more lonely running. Plus they can help me keep my pace for the last half of that run when I'll likely feel like sitting on the path and crying.

best part of my day...
I don't know that I would call it the best as much as the most irritating yet entertaining part of my day. I learned that my dog is bat-poo-crazy, he is one of THOSE dogs who barks aimlessly at the wind. At 2:30 in the morning. And when you let him outside to check things out he is too intimidated by the wind to leave the porch. What a little a-hole. I love him.

best part of my (yester)day...
Coming home to a calm, quiet, newly insulated super warm house. Curtains closed, dim lights on and lounging on the couch all night and having the best quiet evening I've had in months with Ed. We even talked for an hour straight, no interuptions, it was just what I needed!

best part of my day...
Coming home and sitting my exhausted butt on couch to watch my TiVo'd shows while Milo snuggled next to me and Ed made Teriyaki Meatballs (thanks to a new recipe from a recent recipe swap lunch with my girlfriends, the meatballs are Kristen's recipe) and Fried Rice. OMG, yum.
best part of my (yester)day...
Ending my cleanse by going to Knollas and stuffing my face with tasty fat filled toxic goodness in the form of cheese and taco pizza. (note: if you are ever in wichita and need pizza, although we are the city that bore the pizza hut empire, you must visit knollas. hands down the best pizza in this city). I also may have had a hot fudge sundae after, I'm admitting nothing...
The stomach bug (i ended up inheriting it from ed after all) thanked me for said delicious foods at approximately 10:18p last night. And is in fact still thanking me this morning.

best part of my day...
Having today's 5.5 hour class go better than last nights, then heading to dinner at the best local Thai food joint with Ed, my aunt and uncle visiting from out of town, and my parents. Now it's time for more class prep and to crawl into bed to get some rest for that early morning 10-miler, and back to campus for another long afternoon of teaching! WHEW.
My husband is the best. I love him. and my aminalks. (please note ed confiscated the laptop on that very last sentence! I SWEAR!)
