where is this girly girl coming from...

I'm not the girliest of girls, but I'm not totally butch either, I guess I'm kind of in-between. I'm athletic, wear jeans and sweaters or t-shirts almost every day, but love to dress up once in awhile. Heels, bags and super nice jeans are my weakness. I'm proud of the fact that I like to sweat, I love beer, I hate fruity drinks (unless you count wine, which I don't), all my running/workout clothes are black or blue, I'm not prissy or refined (I just have to play that role sometimes at my husbands work parties, but really I think they all know better), I don't wear a lot of makeup, I don't cry at movies, and please give me chicken wings and pizza any day.

However, a few weeks ago that changed. Upon Kristen the running lawyer's suggestion, I went to the skirtsport.com outlet to view their goods and instantly fell in love with the black Marathon Girl skirt. I ordered it on the spot, it didn't hurt that it was 60% off either. My new and unusual crave came in the mail a few days later. And cyperspace.... I heart it. I ripped it out of the bag and put it on, it was just incredible, so comfortable and it made me feel so pretty and feminine. The coolest part was where I thought I'd hate the way my awkward little chicken legs looked in it, but instead I loved the way my legs looked in it. On top of the whole skirt thing, another oddity I'm experiencing is currently salivating over all of Nike's new hot pink running gear. I can't help myself, literally.

So what has caused this sudden change and given me the desire to be girly? My best guess is that it's thanks to the simple fact that I am turning 30 in five days. This is currently my excuse for every bizarre thought or action, and any discrepancy in my norm for the past few weeks. It's all being blamed on the fact I'm turning 30. Like the fact that I was standing in the middle of my kitchen squirting E-Z-Cheese into my mouth and chasing it with orange juice and Sprees while Milo was sitting there telling the entire household that "yep, fluffy has lost it,' I looked at him and blamed it on turning 30. Or when I started spontaneously crying at some baby commercial, also blamed on turning 30. Or the reasoning behind turning my blog pink...seriously, it's just so not like me, but it came over me like a wave, a little voice saying, change your blog... make it pink, so I did. And of course it's also my best guess on the whole girly running gear thing as well, I'm turning 30, I do what I want. Be forewarned that I'm going to use this excuse for everything and anything over the next year.

Now I must eat my sloppy joe and drink my beer because some things will never change once I turn 30...
