I know you've been waiting for this blahgesphere. If you follow my running buddies Ashley the Running Worm and Kristen the Running Lawyer you will know we've all been touting an announcement for a few weeks. Well it is here my friends.
Between the three of us, we came up with an incredible idea:
Oh yeah, THAT just happened. Watch out Kansas Turkey-Type races, we shall descend upon you and show you shock and awe. All permitting we stay healthy and injury free of course. We tend to be an injured lot. But permitting we are all healthy, this will be a FUN weekend. Twenty-three miles total, in two days. I hope to go all out at the Turkey Trot, get a good fall Wichita race under my belt, and run the Gobbler Grind 1/2 for kicks and giggles. There will be no goal or PR for that one. However I do hope to PR at the 10 miler. All of this, of course, depends on my foot healing!
However, good news on the foot front, things are looking up. I ditched my crutches last Friday, ohhhhh the wonderful moments I've had. It's like I have an entirely new trick. WALKING. The foot is doing well, still a little sore on stairs, but overall, doing well. I will start running in two more weeks.

Love it!! I did the Gobbler Grind 5k last year..its right by our house and on the trail that i run often. If I'm in town that weekend, I might do it again. we're planning a trip to San Antonio and may not get back in time. I'll keep you posted. healing thoughts for your foot so its race ready soon:-) Love ya
Sort of like a mini-Goofy! Love it! Keep on healing!! :)
First, congrats on ditching your silver swords, little demon!
Second, wait, what?? THAT is the big annoucement? Okay, very cool and all, but having those races on your upcoming race list for a while now kinda blew that surprise :-) I'd love to add myself to the list of blahggie Kansans running the GG 1/2, but I'll have to petition the wife before I have any shot at that (wish me luck).
Great news!!!
Make sure you email me when you get a chance, B.o.B. and I want to be sure we see you in Chicago!!!
Oh yeah, that just happened!! Cuz that's how running worms, running dorks, and running lawyers roll!!!
I think there should be some eat-a-whole-turkey event incorporated into the event.
Glad to hear you are up and about!
So fun.. PLEASE tell me this will be followed closely by a Pumpkin pie eating contest...no hands with lots of Whip cream?? Hehehe..
Sending healthy vibes your way...
YAY! I love the fact that I'm not the only crazy person who does things like sign up to run back-to-back races (please note that I did NOT say "run back-to-back races" because I have yet to do so, and still am not 100% convinced that I am actually capable of doing so).
But seriously, this sounds like a really fun plan. And you will have an excuse to eat EVERYTHING you want over Thanksgiving! SCORE!
Glad the foot is on the mend! :)
YAYAAAAAAAAAA, hopefully there will be a lakeshore training jog (jog...not RUN) in october! and instead of being followed by turkey or pie eating, please just drink a boulevard for me...in true kansas style...
you girls are CRAZY AWESOME for doing this, i wish i could join in...
i curse the day i moved away from kansas!!!!
Love it!!! And awesome that you're done with crutches. Hope you're 100% again soon!
ok I'm going to have to try to stay in town for the Nov 22 race just so we can finally meet!
Love it! That is going to be an awesome weekend!
So happy about you're off the crutches!! What a relief!
good luck with the jiblet jog. it's going to be a challenging but fun weekend. walking without crutches again is good news toO!
yay for ditching the crutches!
Hold the presses - you'll never guess who is FINALLY going to mail their shoes today AND just registered for the Gobbler Grind 1/2. I know who it is, but I'm not going to let the cat out of the bag just yet...you'll just have to guess for the time being.
yay for no cruches. I hope you don't have callouses on your pits and hands :)
What a cool tag line "We've got 'game'" So clever. Sounds like a good back to back event.
Love it! The logo is too cute. Good luck ladies. Stay healthy!
woot woot! you're awesome!
Love your blog and your idea for the giblet jog. Can I as where you found the pic of the running turkey? My university's mascot (VA Tech) is officially a turkey and I have been looking for good clip art of a running turkey. Thanks!
