Denver.

Despite my crutch-tastic state (yep still hauling my crutches around, foot still hurts, although it isn't quite the size of the Pillsbury dough boy anymore, so there's improvement), Ed and I made an extremely last minute decision Thursday morning to go to Denver for Labor Day.

We stayed with a friend of Ed's who he went to school with, he has an amazing house (with no furniture, he is a total bachelor, pretty entertaining really) on a quiet little lake with a view of the mountains. I have a few pictures, but nothing of consequence, since we didn't really do anything of consequence (unless you count me kicking some butt at rockband). You can't really do anything too exciting on crutches. But the weather was amazing, and Denver is a FUN city. We did manage to hit up a Colorado Rockies game, and downtown quite a bit, but after that the foot (and my arms) gave out, so we were low-key the rest of the weekend.

So there is your explanation as to why I haven't been posting! I'm not sure you were concerned, but I thought I'd offer it up anyway. In other news, I'm trying to keep up with doing abs, arms and think of leg exercises to do while not using my foot. Suggestions welcome. Happy September!

I think it should be your goal to figure out as many exciting things to do on crutches as you possibly can...then blog about it. You could be an inspiration for all of the crutchies out there. And since a lot of your readers are runners who will most likely be all crutched up at some point, I'm sure we'd all appreciate the ideas. Think pain-free thoughts...I'll try to send my shoes this week!

We were all concerned about you!! I can't believe you thought for a minute that we weren't! I'm sorry you are still on crutches!!
On a different note, if you are still taking shoes, and I keep trying 5000 different one's to find the right pair, I might have several to send your way....check out my blog and you'll see what I'm talking about. (busyrunningmama.com) But really, I do have a few pair I could send your way, so let me know!!!

You poor thing. I can only imagine. Actually since my ankle is wonky my roomie and I were talking about crutches and using the potty. Not. Fun. At. All.

Hope you are better soon and had fun in Denver.

Can you aqua jog? That is what I have been doing. It's super boring but I feel like I am accomplishing something.

Great way to spend the weekend.

Hope you can be crutch-less soon!

I would go with the whole sideways leg-lift thing - that's a good foot free leg exercise. And BONUS, pop on some leg warmers and you'll look totally 80s.

Hi!
Yes, fellow Kansan here. :)
And, you are right on the city! Good call! :)
I'm so sorry about your foot. That just totally sucks and they ALWAYS happen around the good races, right? :(
Here's to healing ASAP! :)

So when you do come to Seattle we can go to Starbucks for breakfast, followed by shopping for Tempo shorts, then lunch at The Hungry Goose (Adorable place and they have large coffee cups and give espresso beans on the side), then to watch "Office Space" followed by "Anchorman", and back out for dinner...ummm well i guess I should let you pick since you are new in town..

Fun things to do on crutches:

1. Lean your crutches angled just enough that people who are not paying attention will trip..

2. Make people who are getting on the elevator feel lazy...PEOPLE I actually need the elevator.

3. Crutch swinging...you know you have done it.

4. Having an excuse to use the motorized carts at Wal-Mart or the grocery store..ROCKIN!

5. When everyone else is standing and BORED in line you get to relax and LEAN and swing

6. VEry handy for reaching things while sitting down, the remote for example..

OK that is all I have and I should PROBABLY work today..

Enjoy the crutches..

Hugs!
